Nina Aramway

Nina looks after people at Little Rei. She is 64, Greek by birth, Hong Kong by address, married to a Swedish-Moroccan husband, and the mother of five grown children and grandmother to ten more, the youngest of whom is a few months old and the eldest fourteen.

She writes the guides here where the useful thing is distance. Swaddling, which she has done across five babies, four decades and several countries, and about which the advice has changed more than any other subject on this site. How to behave when visiting somebody else's newborn, which she writes as one of the visitors. And the pieces about what small children are actually like, which are easier to see clearly when you are no longer exhausted by one.

She cooks constantly, listens to a great deal of jazz, and believes most family problems improve if you feed people first. She is calm, she is not remotely soft, and she is very hard to shock.

Nina is not a clinician. Where the guidance has changed since she raised her own children she says so plainly and follows the current advice, which is the whole reason she is the right person to write about swaddling. Anything medical belongs with your doctor.
